So You Want to Get into Physics-Based Animation Research?
Awesome Resources to Get You Started
I have curated a list of awesome resources to help you get started with physics-based animation research. This list is by no means exhaustive, but it should give you a good starting point.
- Prof. David Levin (University of Toronto) has a great course on “Physics-Based Animation”
- Prof. Cem Yuksel’s (University of Utah) course “Introduction to Computer Graphics” is a great resource for graphics in general and features some physics-based animation and simulation topics later in the course
- Prof. Chenfanfu Jiang (UCLA) and colleagues put together a great course on “The Material Point Method for Simulating Continuum Materials” for SIGGRAPH in 2016
- Prof. Adam Bargteil (University of Maryland) and Prof. Tamar Shinar (UC Riverside) have a great course on “An introduction to physics-based animation” that they presented at SIGGRAPH 2019
- Prof. Ted Kim (Yale/Pixar) and David Eberle (Pixar) created an outstanding course on “Dynamic Deformables” for SIGGRAPH 2022
